![]() With regard to Linemen i only play 4 in a team because obviously i don’t want needless TV inflation. As a result my TV’s are a little bloated. I to play the best team I can make and i want to play it in a style that i enjoy. Its probably correct to do so but i’m not a min-maxer in Blood Bowl. I know Chris would hate this but its hard to look past these skills as they are sooo good. Doubles on a piece after that i would get dodge to increase survivability. It is totally uninspired but it really helps your fragile line and potentially frees up a Blitzer to take Mighty Blow or Tackle as a first skill. Skaven only have 3 pieces that can have Guard without a double and one of those is the polarizing Rat Ogre. I think doubles write themselves on a Linemen. On the other hand if you opponent puts a high move, low armour piece, deep in your half unsupported then teach him some respect. You’ll need the numbers and cant afford to get sent off on a whim. ![]() As a general rule don’t waste your foul attempted on fodder and low value opposing pieces. Block is preferable to wrestle as a first skill on a Dirty Player as he is more likely to be on his feet to foul a juicy looking target when it presents itself. Also the low value of the Linerat means it doesn’t matter ‘that’ much if he gets caught and sent off. Creating low value targets for you opponent to worry about is good for your team. The ability to foul any overly adventurous player is scary in itself. I have heard of people taking it multiple times in a side but would only take it once. That is a very useful piece to build if i get the chance.įinally Dirty player is also an excellent option as a second skill on a Linerat. That goes up to 33% if you have tackle and 50% if you have wrestle and tackle instead of block. Quick sums here say that if you one dice blitz a Blodge Ball Carrier you will successfully extract the ball without a turn over 16% of the time. ![]() Wrestle + Tackle gives you the most opportunities to take down Block, Dodge ball carriers that many quicker teams will build. Tackle makes an outstanding second skill for a lineman should it happen. Against quicker teams play the ball short and hope for a blitz kick off result otherwise apply pressure on the ball carrier early and force risky plays. Against slow moving teams place the ball deep and force them to cage early or pounce on a fumble. The ability of Skaven to put the ball accurately where you want it is a god send. I have lost count of the number of TD’s I have scored as a result of a well placed kick and a little bit of good fortune. One, and only one, Linerat should take kick as a first skill. Potentially only making one dodge as opposed to 2-3 more difficult ones. In addition the removal of tackle zones allows your Gutter Runners to take advantage of any unexpected gaps that occur in your opponents line. Other linemen can also cover any gap that is left far easier than your opponent will be able. A Black Orc can stand up and move 1, for example, but a Linerate can still move a respectable 4. In general you can afford to give up 3 squares but your opponent cannot. I have already pointed out that the biggest strength of the lineman is the high movement and wrestle leverages this fact. In addition it also knocks out your opponents (and your) tackle zones while he is down. They negate the both down dice result, but wrestle also restricts your opponents movement, as it takes him 3 squares to stand a player. ![]() Both of these skills increase your survivability. In terms of progression I agree with received wisdom that wrestle is generally better than block as a first skill on Linerats. Don’t expose these guys to unnecessary blocks that they cant take and they will thank you for it. Thankfully their excellent movement 7 allows them to recover from these circumstances well. They sit on the line and get hit.Īv7 in this role means that they don’t have a massive life expectancy and will also stun easily in a game. As a result Linerats do what they say on the tin. Their job, is to die of course, and let your more important players bathe in the glory of your inevitable victory. Continuing looking at my Skaven Team the Rabid Claws first players i will be looking at on the Skaven team are the Linerats.
